Celebrating Neurodiversity Through Purposeful Design

About Made by Dyslexia

Made By Dyslexia is a global charity founded by and led by successful dyslexics, on a mission to reshape how the world sees and supports dyslexic minds. With a focus on training every teacher and workplace to identify and empower dyslexic thinkers, the organisation is redefining dyslexia as a valuable, creative, and problem-solving skillset — not a limitation.

This shared focus on challenging perceptions and driving meaningful change made Made By Dyslexia a natural partner for Stand4Socks. Together, they launched a limited-edition sock designed not just to raise awareness, but to step forward into impact — blending wearable design with a powerful message of inclusion and purpose.

The Collaboration

In a partnership that intertwines personal narrative with social impact, Stand4Socks and Made By Dyslexia came together to create more than just a sock — they launched a movement. Timed with Dyslexia Awareness Month, the limited-edition design served as both a symbol and a conversation starter, crafted to shine a light on the strengths of dyslexic thinking.

What made this collaboration especially powerful was the personal connection behind it. Stand4Socks founder Josh Turner, who is dyslexic himself, understood the importance of visibility and representation. The sock’s bold design and messaging aimed to empower individuals with dyslexia while also educating the wider public about its often misunderstood qualities — creativity, problem-solving, and big-picture thinking.

This wasn’t just about awareness. With every pair sold, £5 was donated to Made By Dyslexia to support their mission of training educators and workplaces worldwide. In addition, a pair was donated to someone experiencing homelessness, reinforcing Stand4Socks’ model of impact with every purchase.

Together, the two organisations combined fashion, advocacy, and purpose — walking the talk, one step at a time.

Product Design

The Made By Dyslexia sock is more than a stylish accessory — it's a bold statement woven with purpose. Featuring a sleek, all-black base and proudly displaying the Made By Dyslexia logo, the design reflects the confidence, clarity, and strength of dyslexic thinking. The logo placement isn’t just aesthetic — it’s symbolic, front and centre, inviting conversation and sparking curiosity around the meaning behind the sock.

From the first sketch to the final stitch, this sock was designed to reflect the innovative spirit of dyslexic thinkers — those who challenge norms, think differently, and bring fresh perspective to the world.

A Personal Connection: Josh Turner's Story

The collaboration between Stand4Socks and Made By Dyslexia was not only about social impact — it was a deeply personal initiative for Josh Turner, the founder of Stand4Socks. As a dyslexic entrepreneur, Josh’s journey and experiences directly informed his commitment to support Made By Dyslexia’s mission. Having navigated the challenges of growing up dyslexic, Josh has always felt a responsibility to empower others who share his story and show that dyslexia is not a limitation but a unique strength.

Josh’s lived experience of turning perceived obstacles into opportunities inspired the creation of a product that reflected both his personal values and the collective mission of these organizations. His leadership ensured that this project was about more than just philanthropy — it was about empowering others to embrace neurodiversity and think differently. The collaboration exemplified how the intersection of personal narrative and business purpose can create a ripple effect that drives change.
